BACON!!!!!

Let there be bacon! On Saturday, June 2 from 6 - 10 p.m., Baconfest Michigan 2012 will take over the Royal Oak Farmers Market to celebrate the most magical of meats – bacon.  Salted, smoked, cured or candied, bacon is undoubtedly America’s most favorite meat. Nothing else has the power to invoke the same level of rapture and turn us all into drooling Homers quite like bacon. It’s not called the “bacon train” for nothing.

Baconfest Michigan will gather more than 30+ of the area’s most baconacious restaurants to create crazy bacon-centric concoctions for all to feast on.  Festival-goers can expect a wide range inventive dishes featuring bacon (and bacon’s siblings, pork belly and prosciutto): think pork belly tacos with sriarcha slaw and bacon marmalade, prosciutto BLTs, and bacon apple pie. There will even be bacon-themed drinks.
In addition to these fancy bacon treats, there will be plenty of good old-fashioned BACON bacon to consume: strips of simple, classic streaky bacon (and applewood-smoked bacon and hickory-smoked bacon and so on) available at each of Baconfest Michigan’s official “Bacon Stations.” (Think of them as palate-cleansers.)

Baconfest Michigan will also feature bacon-themed vendors, eclectic demonstrations with some hardcore baconators, and more bacon than you can shake a fork at. There will also be live music during the event and attendees will also have the chance to vote on a “People’s Choice” fan favorite.

Tickets are on sale now at www.baconfestmichigan.com/tickets.html. Regular admission tickets are $45 each and include full access to Baconfest booths and official “Bacon Stations” as well as three drink tickets. VIP tickets are $75 each and include full access to the festival as well as six premium drink tickets and a private VIP area with its own exclusive restaurants, and an exclusive limited, numbered and signed Baconfest poster.
